Summary:
Coordinate a weekly schedule of guided hikes at nature centers and wildlife areas across the Twin Cities metro area. Each hike would be over a mile in length, and approximately an hour long, guided by an interpretive naturalist or volunteer naturalist. Learning, enjoying nature, and exercising all at the same time, while also introducing people to enjoyable walking areas near their home so they can exercise on their own. By engaging all family members, and friends, there is more chance that the activity will be enjoyable and people will want to do it more often, plus costs to the individual are kept low since paying for childcare is not an issue.

How do you define your "community"?
I think our community has many levels and at Carpenter Nature Center we are engaged with each one. We are part of the larger Twin Cities Metro area community, but also part of the unique St. Croix Valley Community, the Western Wisconsin Community, and the local city of Hastings community. We work closely with our many business communities (Afton, Newport, Hastings, Cottage Grove, Prescott & Hudson) and work cooperatively with the wildlife, environmental education community throughout both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
