Summary:

We want to make Saint Paul great! What could be a better way to show its greatness than by honoring the very person who our great city is named after?! I don't know how much statues cost but Id like to think with 1 million dollars that it would be very possible to build the biggest statue of Saint Paul in the world! It could be put on top of Mounds Park for example. This may not be the best idea but its possible, and it is the best idea, let me explain.... 1. Our city is named after Saint Paul, the statue would make sense. 2. Pretty simple project compared to other projects; just build a big (tall) statue, it doesn't take up much space. 3.TOURISTS, for example the Statue of Liberty in New York, the statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro, Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, and other great landmarks around the world. Plus, a statue of Saint Paul could be really cool looking because he is often portrayed with a sword and a book, a lot of room for simple but fun creativity and it would give downtown a great new look and an even more beautiful skyline. 4. Saint Paul the Apostle is very popular and is a very historical and important figure. 5th and final reason is pilgrimage. With the Cathedral of Saint Paul in downtown and a Statue of Saint Paul in downtown, I think there is potential for people to come for spiritual reasons. To some it all up.... It's affordable (I think), it's tasteful and sensible, and it's beautiful and powerful. Lets stand out, Let Saint Paul stand gloriously! If we want to transform the city of St. Paul....it starts with SAINT PAUL!!! Lets do it!

What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

My idea is different simply because no one else but myself has this idea. Its different because I feel as though the other entries being submitted may not be as tangible and visible as mine. I feel like other ideas might be boring or only serve a select number of people. Imagine for a second...... A huge ( really cool and awe inspiring statue of Saint Paul) in downtown Saint Paul. Its a big and bold idea.. a great idea. Imagine if your from out of state or from out of the country and you drive through downtown Saint Paul..... BOOM.." Hey what is that big statue? .................... Thats SAINT PAUL!!!! Like I have said before, maybe at best it could be something like the Statue of Liberty or Mount Rushmore. It is unique because it is a big statue of Saint Paul in the city of Saint Paul.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

Everyone will see it, everyone can enjoy it. My idea is basically a statue of the Apostle Paul to serve as a Landmark to be seen by the city and around the world. I see it serving as a testimony to inspire transformation, as Saint Paul did in his own life. I guarantee it would benefit the city of Saint Paul more than any other idea, in seen and unseen ways. It could be built in such a way as the statue of liberty was built so people could go inside and up to the top for scenic views. We don't have that here and we don't have that in Minneapolis.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

It could be the most popular landmark in the state of Minnesota. It is possible that this statue could be well known throughout the country or the world. Paul the apostle is a great representative for us, a great model to follow. Be transformed. It would inspire others to do something big, to do something bold. If the city of Saint Paul wants to be transformed.. it starts with Saint Paul
