Summary:

SUNSHINE-PARK-This is it-Develop Rice park or similar downtown park to be a year round “Summer Park” this would include the following unique features-a small indoor conservatory similar to the one at Como-park-Maybe even a replica of that one-Also heated sidewalks, rock pathes, native stone walls and heated benches-surrounded by various shrubs that are hardy Arborvitae –type- that keep their color in the winter.
Also heated flower boxes to keep flowering plants until deep into the winter-and very early in spring-this would be accomplished by partnering with the U_OF M-arboretum to pick the proper plants that can handle the cold and those grasses that hold their color though the winter. Imagine how nice this will look if we still have the ice sculpture in the winter; as part of the winter carnival-additional touches could include heated stream with Minnesota fish that could be viewed all year-especially
if we Add glass walls to part of the pond so you can see them swim-now here is how we heat this park-we use solar and wind –we also use the thermal heat generated under the city so the cost of running this “sun” park will be minimal-lets create a “green” perpetual summer park right in downtown St. Paul!

SUNSHINE-PARK-This is idea-The ‘WOW” factor is built in-This is a “oasis" in the winter and a LUSH tropical place in the summer-but since we have about 9 months of “NON-Summer” that is when this will really shine-this is just the idea that will be replicated in MPLS and other “COLD” cities around the world-an additional idea would be a small ice rink with heated seats around it and a heated walkways-native stones-walls-all heated-and topped with beautiful plants.-you can take this idea as far as you want.-
