Summary:

Our Vision Recycling for Saint Paul and for Future Generations

It's Our Vision to give back to the Saint Paul community and to make this a better place to live in for current and future generations through electronic recycling. Here are our ideas on how to accomplish this.

1) We will provide free recycling and proper disposal of old and unusable computers and electronics for local business. This will entice people to recycle safely and more often.
2) We will recondition gently used electronics that are still serviceable.
3) We will donate an unlimited supply of our reconditioned computer systems, complete with monitor, interfacing devices and operating system, to nonprofit organizations that help support the community.
4) We will provide free installation services and a two year assistance program for all systems that we donate.
5) We will set up basic computer training classes that are easily accessible for all generations of computer users to ensure no one is left behind in the technology age.
6) We will set up education programs to get children inspired and involved in recycling, so that they and the future generations may continue to enjoy the blue sky that we see today.
7) We will create jobs for individuals who share Our Vision in recycling and helping to better the community.

In the last six months, Our Vision Recycling has donated over a 100 reconditioned computer systems to several non-profit organizations in the community. Without our efforts, these systems would have simply been discarded and likely would have ended up in a landfill. With the grant, we would be able to pick up and reconditioned more computers systems and supply them to the people who need them most throughout Saint Paul and the surrounding areas. If Our Vision is able to donate over 100 computer systems with its limited staff and resources, imagine the potential impact we could have for Saint Paul if we were given a grant.

What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

Unlike some other recyclers in the Saint Paul area, Our Vision does not charge for the weight of recycled items or for picking them up at a business. We believe that this should be a free service to encourage companies to recycle more often. Thus, increasing the amount of computers that can be reconditioned and put back into service and decreasing the amount that may end up in landfills.
Our Vision is to then give back to the community by providing an unlimited amount of our reconditioned computer systems to people that need them most through nonprofit organizations. We believe that by providing these computers to the community, we will not only save the environment, but inspire the imaginations and economic potential of the current and future generations with unlimited possibilities.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

We believe that Our Vision is an enticing recycling option that everyone can relate to. From an individual with one laptop to large companies that have fifty desktops to dispose of, everyone wants to recycle safely, but they just need to know how, who to turn to and is it affordable. Our Vision is their one stop for all their needs.
In this age of the 'information highway', everyone deserves to have the opportunity to learn and to grow with the times, regardless of their physical or financial challenges.
Our Vision is not a limited vision, we wish to educate and inspire people to not only recycle, but to help others by getting the proper training and the right equipment to do so. Once people have the tools needed to achieve their goals, they can then inspire others to do the same.
