What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

CiTYSCAPE will bring together diverse groups of people regardless of race, color, creed, age, gender, backgrounds, handicaps or income levels to share in an entertaining, educational and cultural exhibit. The touch screens will include many short statements such as information about Roy Wilkins when Saint Paul's Auditorium is pressed; or the Nobel Prize winners when the U of M is pressed; or creation of the first battery powered pacemaker by Earl Bakken and DR. C. Walton Liliehei when Medtronic's home office building is pressed; or the first legislated charter school to open in the U.S. on Sept 7, 1992 when Saint Paul's City Academy is pressed. Wow! The accomplishments will be as amazing as the exhibit itself. They will educate, inspire and elevate. They will create pride and comaraderie.

This Entry is about (Issues)

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

CiTYSCAPE will help brand Saint Paul as a local, regional and national destination of choice. Downtown (and visitors) will benefit from a Depot location since a trolley bus can continuously transport visitors between the Depot, nearby trails, the river, Rice Park, museums, 7 Corners, and Mears Park. Adding a Deopt/Mall of America express city bus via Sheppard Rd. will, along with the LRT, triangulate and facilitate direct public transportation between three significant local destination hubs: Saint Paul, Minneapolis and MOA. As a side benefit, the Depot/trolley/nearby trails connection may inspire a Depot retail facility for bike rentals in summer and cross country ski rentals in the winter, thereby making Downtown Saint Paul a go to place for shared year around healthy outdoor activities.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

CiTYSCAPE will be a visual celebration of vitality and ingenuity. It can be built in exciting and affordable stages. It will change as the area changes. It will grow as the area grows. And it doesn't have to be limited. It can include visual plans proposed in the SAINT PAUL GREAT RIVER PASSAGE PLAN, the Minneapolis 15 Year Plan, and other plans. Add-on exhibits can display southern, western and northern Minnesota cities and their many significant contributions and amenities. The possibilities are unlimited. So is the excitement. Germany's "Miniatur Wunderland-- official videos" internet site shows a similar and very successful exhibit that is more extensive, elaborate and costly yet it doesn't have the unforgetable educational, local business or cultural elements of Saint Paul's CiTYSCAPE.
