Summary:

What makes a great city is what it provides to its people and guests. $1mm could go along way to providing what many people need to succeed with the right business architecture. In todays market of bringing products or ideas to fruition the public is king. We crowd source and take everything to the web. The idea maker wins, the web site wins (biggest), even the consumer wins. What about our precious city that needs more exposure, jobs, stores, experiences, and general attractiveness?

I invision applying that $1mm to system that enables, route, assist, and manage individuals through the entrepreneurial lifecycle. A city has one huge asset that websites don't and that is people. Let people crowd source with other people in person, source local manufacturing opportunities, find financing the old fashion way... in person. For every foreclosure there is an opportunity to place a new startup. These models are not legless they are just immature and need some rigor and formality. Imagine a farmers market for startups with all levels of companies maturing through the process.

If applied properly the funding could support those great ideas from ideation to corporation. Have a simple start your business here office for incorporation and basic structure creating (yes brilliance needs hand holding sometimes). The next step is coordinating some mentorship, a place to talk to others, meet vendors. As they bring their products, music, plays, technology to market St. Paul will be well suited to host them and their new business space.

The concept is to simply help people start businesses, receive connections and assistance with bringing them to market (funding, locations, whatever). Give them a mechanism to get their maturing concepts in front of consumers. Imagine a vibrant innovation center where it all began.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

This could easily have a small fee attached to those that are successful from the concept. I have been lucky to get through it without the help but I would be very thankful and willing to donate back to something that played a role in my success.
