Summary:

To make St. Paul GREAT, we need people of all ages and cultures visiting our downtown. Every age and every culture seeks FUN and competition.
St. Paul Book of State-Wide Records ( a take off on Guinness Book of World Records)would gather contestants to compete for any record we want to create ... tallest person, oldest person, heaviest cat, tiniest dog, biggest bubble gum bubble (endless possibilities)
OR groups can gather to try to set a group STATE RECORD!...the most citizens hula hooping, or on unicycles, or knitting, etc. Adult records are planned for evening ... under age 14 records set for afternoons. During summer, move the event location to a different St. Paul Park each week ... during winter, move event to St. Paul Landmark center or Union Depot, or high school gym. This idea will bring business to St. Paul ... citizens will eat out, shop before and after events.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

These State-wide records events will draw visitors of all ages and cultures. FUN, FRIENDLY competitions help cultures mingle. By moving the event around to St. Paul parks, local eateries and shops in many neighborhoods will get more business that day.
Food shelf donations will be given to the LOCAL food shelf the day of that event.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

The staying power is ENDLESS for this idea. Dream up any possible STATE RECORD to be made ... who can stand on one leg the longest ... longest beard ... oldest registered car in MN, etc. Citizens can give suggestions for records to be made or groups that want to set a record. Replicate in communities by having each city plan local competitions to send a winner to the St. Paul state wide competition. Families are SEEKING fun activities ... give them a chance to be involved and have input for events.
