PROBLEMS ARE JUST SOLUTIONS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN
A NEW GENERATION OF THE WORKING POOR
Summary:
The question should really be “How would one million dollars make St. Paul the best?”, and I believe bridging the widening financial gap between those that are more fortunate and those less fortunate is the key. Beumer Consulting would utilize the funds by purchasing ten (10) multi-family housing units and housing families that qualify as “low income” or “working poor” in these units. Rent for each housing unit would be determined via property taxes.

What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
Time and time again, statistics have revealed that housing is the number one expense for those classified as working poor. Our belief is that if there is an affordable housing option for the working poor, other basic needs will be easier to provide.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
Currently in St. Paul, eleven percent of all working families fall below the poverty line. These numbers are based on a family of four when, in actuality, one-in-two households is led by a single mother. The income that determines the poverty threshold is $22,811.00. I believe this program would only bode well for the dollars going into the city of St. Paul as many of these families begin to rely less on city and state resources and more on personal savings and better money management skills.
Sustainability
Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
People will recognize, remember and want to be a part of this project because it is effective, creative and sustainable.
