St. Paul Summer Beach

Summary:

Downtown St. Paul businesses need attractions to bring customers. I propose a beach. Other cities have trucked in sand to create a limited time beach in a downtown area to add excitement to summer months. The "beach" doesn't need water - it's enough to have the sand, sand volleyball, food trucks and bands playing to create atmosphere that young (and old) will flock to soak up the sun in a unique setting. The riverfront area adjacent to the Science Museum has been recently renovated and would be close enough to the RiverCentre parking ramps and hopefully lend itself to beachgoers migrating after the sun goes down to the bars and restaurants on W. 7th and elsewhere. The beach kick off could coincide with major downtown events like Taste of MN and Red Bull to keep event goers downtown.

Sand is cheap, food trucks already downtown, and Minnesotans will always flock to warm places!
