Summary:

Every community has atleast one annual celebration whether it is a Christmas pagent or a special day full of celebrative events! As part of this annual gathering everyone will be invited to a Block Party-a favorite space in the community to eat a healthy snack while brainstorming ideas about their local food issues. These issues will be documented on simple sheets of paper positioned around the Block Party gathering space. Everyone in attendance will be entered in a drawing for a healthy prize. The block party event will conclude as the people create a celebrative parade of movement by walking, running, biking, dancing, or whatever works ToEatAndMove together. The sheets of paper will be given to a person like myself who will document the event along with pictures of the gathering. A website will be created along with social media forms like Facebook to share the information with the communities interested in going to the next level of implementing solutions to their Community Success by becoming a TEAM. This virtual community will have ongoing discussions about their process to find the solutions for their individual communities online. A grand prize Block Party will be given to the community who takes measureable action to make a difference in their community against obesity.

How do you define your "community"?

Everyone on the planet!

Tell us how you think the issue of obesity is affecting your community

Lost productivity in everyday life for people of all ages. Depression issues of varying degrees and ongoing stress related disease.

Why should your idea be selected?

Every community has a celebration of some kind. Block parties have been popular in the past to bring communities together. The issues of obesity must be resolved by the people in the community together-as a team. By taking the word TEAM and creating a thought pattern: ToEatAndMove can empower people to connect the need to eat AND move inorder to lead a healthier balanced life. I think a person like myself can be the bridge for a good idea to blossom in community. I have a wonderful ladybug trailer that inspires people by its smile and makes the point that even the smallest of creatures in the world can make a real difference in our world. I plan to secure sponsors to wrap my car with a message so it is a moving billboard for promoting great ideas for people to become healthier through community efforts to become a TEAM-ToEatAndMove together!
