Part of downtown, maybe Macy's, should be developed as a destination for fashion. We have some talented designers in town. Encourage them to set up boutiques, entice a great fabric store to move in. To jump start, use some of the money to get Project Runway to come in and film a season in St Paul. Use rest of money for St Paul to have its own fashion week. Highlite Heimie's haberdashery and Stephanie's, tap into other Minnesota gems, like Wintergreen clothing, JR Hulme, Redwing boots etc.

Fashion happens only on a small scale here. Something like Project Runway has it easy to pull off high fashion in a place like NYC or Paris. Lets see what they can do here in St Paul. There is so much inspiring about Saint Paul with the history, some of the old buildings, the river, lets see how that can be translated in the fashion world. That would truly be creative and challenging.

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn have to make everywhere they go better, dont ya think?
People will travel and spend money on fashion, so make St Paul Fashionable or known to more as a fashionable place. This will in turn attract other services, restaurants and entertainment.

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn in Saint Paul for an extended amount of time would be both recognizable and memorable.
A great memory of mine from the RNC was the having a couple of new stores open up for a few weeks in the down town. I sincerely believe that St Paul is more fashionable than many people think and has great potential to be even more so. By putting Downtown St Paul on the fashion map in a fun way and creating a place for designers to work and flourish while also building a place downtown for Edina, Woodbury and North Oaks shoppers to meet this would be better than Grand.
