Paint the Street!
Summary:
Street art is an intriguing, often unsanctioned, way of claiming a place in the city. St. Paul should have a street festival that centers on turning a street into a temporary, multi-authored, outdoor work of art. By inviting people to paint (or chalk) the street and giving them the means and place to do so, a St. Paul Paint the Street Festival would include and inspire people of all ages and abilities to participate and make their chalk mark on their city.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
A St. Paul Paint the Street festival would bring people together and bring out their creativity, making for an engaging and memorable day in the city.
Sustainability
Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
The festival should be located in under utilized areas of the city. By focusing on painting the street - changing your surroundings - people would be engaged in looking hard at the environment and realizing their own power to impact that place. The place would be associated with good memories of the festival, and the event of the festival could be a catalyst for long term revitalization.
