Green Forever St. Paul
Summary:
I want St. Paul to be the healthiest city in America. Included in this plan begins with St. Paul building and investing in the biggest green house in Minnesota, using solar panel energy to power the green house. St. Paul can be the place to teach, educate, and provide healthy food choices from seed to table. We can engage diverse communities, business, academic and health institutions in St. Paul. Most communities gather around food and this effort can help ethnic communities retain rich cultural practices by growing food from the different communities.

Innovation
What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
St. Paul has many community gardens and aerospace/technology programs. We could combine the two efforts and produce something tangible (food) and energy for the St. Paul community.
Impact
This Entry is about (Issues)
How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
One step towards minimizing the consumption of processed food, which I believe is the root cause of many illnesses and diseases. Providing access to fresh produce YEAR ROUND is one step to helping St. Paul residences eat healthier. We need to implement more basic cooking classes. The dependency on process food for affordability and convenience is handicapping residences. We need resources to allow families to cook and prepare their own meals.
Sustainability
Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
The greenhouse effort can be self-sustaining because the produce sold would be generate revenue to support itself. Also, volunteers and student programs can help provide the physical labor involved in the work.
