Summary:

Art is a universal language and a way to unite a community, share common roots, and promote understanding of our shared history and culture. I propose that artists be commissioned to create a series of culturally and historically significant murals that tell the story of St. Paul. These murals could be located throughout the city on the sides of buildings where owners would welcome visitors to view them. Maps could be created wihich would locate these murals for tourists and visitors to St. Paul. This could then be a significant attraction for families, community members and visitors to the city.

What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

I like the fact that murals could be located throughout the city, encouraging people to see parts of the city they may not otherwise think of seeing. It would also be a great tourist activity. Perhaps tours and history talks could be created around these murals for students, visitors to the city, and everyone who wants to learn more about St Paul.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

I could defintely see families touring the murals together on a summer weekend or students going on fied trips to learn more about St Paul history. Visitors to St Paul would love it. And the murals would add to the beauty of the city. Learning is visual for so many and these artistic images would remain! This idea could be easily replicated in any community!
