Summary:

The Saint Paul Bluffs along the Mighty Mississippi Corridor often become the willing subjects for the many-talented artists. Artists come to the bluffs edge with their paints and stroke out the colors they see among nature. The talented brush-wielding people come from all over. They have various backgrounds and their training is formal and informal.

I want to do this too! Yes. I can envision a building where these artists gather together and bring their bags of paints and paper notebooks. We come together to share ideas. Each pair of eyes sees the world in a unique way and how we creatively transcribe what we see will be individually authentic. We are all artists. Come, let's gather and join. The talented. Those seeking the talent. We come together to escape the noisy world. We interact. We laugh. We draw. We hear birds. The trickling of water. The crunching of the leaves, twigs and sticks. Let's help Saint Paul flourish and grow new talent in the backyard of abundant nature.

What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

The artists gather place is somewhere other than the artists quarter in downtown. For, instead it is the place of art in nature. A small building would be used as a classroom setting for artists which use all sorts of elements. The classrooms would be designed for senior citizens, college students to preschoolers. Pottery, photography, painting, drawing to fall pumpkin carving. There would be teachers present who would be able to lead the students. Art shows for display and sale of the one-of-a-kind pieces. All levels of artists would be invited to come together and learn and share their expertise.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

This would be a delightful nook along the river corridor in Saint Paul. Think of the mixed culture of talents which could be drawn together. We need to find a place to belong and fit into the surrounding nature. This type of venue could catch on in other cities and towns and grow into a very nice setting which would become known as an informal classroom for all to express their gifts and abilities. There could be a permanent gallery which for viewing. People would come from all over to see the art and may commission artists for specific pieces.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

This creative spot would be in a beautiful, natural setting. Handmade products would be created by the locals. This would encourage budding artists to supply the locals and those traveling through Saint Paul with authentic grassroots products and quality art. The idea would be to encourage locally produced and handmade items. For instance, agate, turquoise, amethyst stones could be made into jewelry. We would rely less on imported goods or cheap replicas of artistic pieces which are so common. Saint Paul would become know for self-sustaining products which are not generic and mass produced by machines or generated by computers.
