Wellness Drum Circles in MN Schools
Summary:
It is our goal to empower the hearts and minds of MN youth through group drumming in all the schools. Contributing to creating confidence, team building, acceptance of others, and personal growth. E.P. would handcraft the cajon box drum along side students in guided workshops to build the drums they would not only play, but would be kept by their school. Professional training in drum circle facilitation and music therapy would also be provided to the educators in order for them to carry out sessions and add drum circles to their curriculum.

It is our goal to empower the hearts and minds of MN youth through group drumming in all the schools. Contributing to creating confidence, team building, acceptance of others, and personal growth. E.P. would handcraft the cajon box drum along side students in guided workshops to build the drums they would not only play, but would be kept by their school. Professional training in drum circle facilitation and music therapy would also be provided to the educators in order for them to carry out sessions and add drum circles to their curriculum.

Student drum circles take part in the much needed social structure shift that supports a more connected state of being now and for the years to come. Our E.P. drums are mobile, easily maintained, and affordable with great sound.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
This idea will make a difference in St Paul and all of Minnesota by allowing the positive benefits of drum circles to blossom. It is our belief, and documented throughout history in numerous cultures, that drumming builds relationships, contributes to a sense of community, and brings individual inner peace. With today's teen suicide, problems with bullying, and family dysfunction these wellness circles provide a safe place for students of all demographics and abilities to be part of a program that allows them to express themselves in a meaningful way, speaking to their higher health.
Sustainability
Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
People will remember this because it becomes a daily community act within the school systems. Students will remember the freeing feeling the experience of participating in the drum circle gives them, sending them on a straight and positive path for life. Parents will remember the happiness felt by their child, the new skill their child learns, and how it has changed their relationship with their child.
