Saint Paul Velodrome
Summary:
The Velodrome at the national Sports center in Blaine is nearing the end of its useful life. It is a unique sports facility, but it is only by accident that it is up in Blaine. Most of the folks who race there do not live in Blaine. We should build the replacement for the Velodrome here in Saint Paul and so make the exciting sport of track racing available to Saint Paul youth.

We should build the replacement for the Velodrome here in Saint Paul and so make the exciting sport of track racing available to Saint Paul youth.

Velodromes are beautiful, dramatic structures and would be a great asset for Saint Paul. The bicycle racing done at a velodrome is very exciting and would be very attractive to urban youth.

How will your idea make a difference in Saint Paul? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
Bicycling is undergoing a dramatic increase in popularity and velodrome racing is poised to increase in popularity too. Having a velodrome right in the city, accessible on the rail line, would allow urban youth to particip[ate in an athletic activity that is exciting, strenuous and fun.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)
An all weather velodrome will be a community asset for decades and will inspire generations of Saint paul youth to participate in bycycle racing and enjoy the sport and good health that follows from a lifetime sport.
