Summary:

BUILD COLLABORATION BETWEEN BUSINESS, ARTS AND INNOVATION TO CREATE A CREATIVITY MECCA BASED IN ST. PAUL.

Create a non-profit to add “Art” back into traditional business development priorities of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (stem). A steAm program would foster innovation among top minds in MN with creative seminars, scholarship monies and job placement for high-potential creative thinkers.

This unique program unites emerging, curious, innovative minds – in students young and old – with the creative perspectives of volunteer professionals from Minnesota’s top companies. Through the program, these cohorts will be mentored on how to harness the power of design, integrative thinking, sustainability and leadership, with an end goal of re-injecting that creative innovation discipline back into MN companies. Similar to TED talks, this non-profit brain trust would capitalize on the passion for creativity and innovation paired with the desire to share knowledge through teaching.

What makes your idea different or unexpected? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

INNOVATION IS THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS.

In our high-tech, high-touch society, businesses must innovate to survive.
Building a great business and operating it well no longer guarantees it will be around in 100 years. In 1958, the average length of time a company remained on the S&P 500 was 57 years; by 1983, it had dropped to 30 years; in 2008, it was just 18.

Shorter business life cycles require a new sort of management discipline capable to lead an organization through an ongoing process of transformation and renewal. To thrive in today's marketplace, businesses need creative and innovative leaders.

Why do you think people will recognize or remember your idea after it comes to life? How might it inspire others to do something similar in their community? (4000 characters maximum or approx. 500 words)

A CYCLE OF LEADERS CREATES A SUSTAINABLE, TOP-TIER, INNOVATIVE BUSINESS CULTURE.

The association can be financially sustainable through paying students matriculating into the program and sponsorship funds donated by the numerous Fortune 100 companies based in MN. To build career paths of top talent in the program, students would be guaranteed internships with sponsoring companies, and graduates would be required to “give back” to the program by becoming mentors to new undergraduates. With top talent retained in MN through this innovative program, businesses, non-profit foundations and the State thrive for years to come.
