What makes your project unique?

The Twin Cities Chinese dance project is unique because it places emphasis on the positive aspects of dance as opposed to competitive dance. Dance is not a unique idea what makes our project different is that we are teaching dance and culture in a fun interactive environment. Dance also builds self esteem, it is a widely accepted fact that children who are self confident do not find it necessary to pick on others - be it race or other factors that make some different.

Tell us about the social impact of your project as it relates to ONE of these three areas: Education, Employment or Housing

Dance teach music, rhythm, and beat. In a short time dancers will become more coordinated as the result of their dance classes and these classes are a great way in which to encourage physical fitness and exercise. By teaching adults and children early in life the importance of movement and fitness dance will instill in him or her the tools he or she will need in order to remain physically fit throughout the course of his or her life. In this country we had an alarming number of obese people, a trend that is now seeing a large number of children. Dance equals movement which will help children and adults stay fit.
