Summary:

Education and outside are the two key words to sucess. Our childeren are the most influetion to adults, they are the most persistant and are reward driven. Mind over matter works, start young it is easier to change - go to the schools and get involved, change the menus and educate the childeren they will educate and remind the adults the proper way to eat and stay active. Staying active leads to outdoors activities, we can even educate outdoor value. We can prove that being outside, no matter the season, will strive all people (young and old) to be creative and use the fresh air to take their mind off food and bordem. Teddy Rosevelvt was a great champion to remind everyone the value of the outdoors and to embrace it and to let families use it as an education oppotunities. My family uses this and can see it in my childerens eyes when "exploring" is on the agenda for the day - and they are the ones that set the agenda. great ideas come from great settings.

How do you define your "community"?

Community is simple - providing Opportunities!

Tell us how you think the issue of obesity is affecting your community

Not only our community, but money is driving obesity. Business are making money that drive kids and adults to indoor activities. We are striving to make bigger, clearer and more interactive technology. If we go back to the roots of the founding fathers - we focused on living off the land and being OUTSIDE. We can get back to the basics of using the land that we are provided and Obesity will begin to turn the way it should.

Why should your idea be selected?

My idea is simple, we got to this issue of obesity of analizing too much. If we provide places and spaces that encourage activity and let folks and families to be creative we will see improvements. We are too structured and by providing "space" to be "outside the box" we will begin the plan to make a better place.
