Grounding to Restore Health

A relatively new body of research called Earthing Science is studying how being connected to the earth can regulate the physiological processes of the human body. Because of the increase in electrical devices in our homes and offices, as well as the decrease in direct contact with the earth
because of rubber soled shoes, researchers believe that people in general are suffering greater stress, sleep problems, and inflammation, which science tells us is one of the leading factors in chronic disease. Less contact with the earth is also cause for altered blood viscosity.

Earthing science has associated the decreased connection with the earth to imbalances of the autonomic nervous system, immune system, and endocrine system, and increase in chronic pain and joint and muscle stiffness, sleep disorders, and respiratory conditions.

Earthing, otherwise known as grounding, entails increasing our connection to the earth, by either going barefoot, wearing leather soled shoes, or by the use of earthing products.

In the book Earthing, published by Basic Health Publications, 2010, earthing science pioneer Clinton Ober, and co-authors Martin Zucker and Dr. Stephen Sinatra explain that the earth “is a six sextillion metric ton battery that is continually replenished by solar radiation, lightening, and
heat from its deep-down molten core.” They continue that “just like a battery in a car that keeps the motor running and the wheels turning, so, too, do the rhythmic pulsations of natural energy flowing through and emanating from the surface of the Earth keep the biological machinery of
global life running.”
