Blue Ox is a team of friends and artists with deep roots in Saint Paul. Christi Atkinson, Chris Pennington, Jennifer Pennington, and Gabriel Shapiro have worked with the Walker Art Center, the Soap Factory Gallery, and individually to create some of the most iconic and successful arts programs in the Twin Cities, including the Walker's mini golf, the Soap Factory's Haunted Basement, the Ten Second Film Festival, and the 2008 Liberty Parade. We are building an arts-based, artists designed mini golf course on the site of the Schmidt Brewery redevelopment. This unique and innovative blending of arts and recreation will become a focal point of the new development and a gathering space for the neighborhood and the larger Saint Paul community. By reimagining both the traditional arts experience and low-cost, family friendly recreation, Blue Ox is creating a one-of-a-kind, immersive activity, bringing the formerly "high-brow" and "low-brow" together in a playable fine arts space. We envision a visually captivating spectacle that incorporates the familiar game play of mini golf, encouraging exploration and fun; a Saint Paul icon to rival our neighbor's Spoonbridge and Cherry!
